A resident of the Greater Portland Metro Area since 1979, Kurt Nickelsen is one of the most tenured home inspectors in the area, having now performed residential and commercial inspection services for over two decades, with over 10,000 inspections under his belt. There are only a few inspectors in the entire SW Washington and NW Oregon region who have performed residential and commercial inspections as long as Kurt.
Transitioning from his long-held position at the City of Washougal as head of Parks and Recreation, where he was first licensed in 1986 with the Washington State Department of Agriculture and his duties included inspecting, maintaining, and repairing commercial property and publicly-owned buildings, as well as the inspection of playgrounds as a Certified Playground Inspector, was natural. First partnering with another inspector as co-owner of Inspection Consulting, Inc., Kurt, along with Tracy, his spouse of 40 years, decided a change was needed and they opened Nickelsen Home Inspections, LLC in 2005.
Kurt’s long list of professional credentials include but is not limited to his membership with the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors and the Washington State Pest Management Association. He’s a Board-Certified Home Inspector (CMI) and is former president of SWWAHI—The SW Washington Association of Home Inspectors.
When he isn’t performing inspections and operating the business, Kurt and Tracy stay busy (perhaps too busy…) taking care of their goats, chickens, two dogs, and his farm in north Clark County where something always needs repairs, maintenance, or mowing.
A long-time homeowner and landlord with multiple properties, Kurt understands what it means to purchase a real estate, and brings this, along with his extensive inspection and property-maintenance and management experience, to every property he has the pleasure of eyeing.
