Can home inspectors conduct business during the Washington State Covid-19 ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy Order’ from Governor Jay Inslee?

Q. Can home inspectors conduct business during the Washington State Covid-19 ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy Order’ from Governor Jay Inslee?

A: No.

Home inspectors in the State of Washington are not listed as part of the “essential services” that can remain open during the ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy’ order from Jay Inslee, and as much as we would love to be implementing measures to keep business open during this time, it would be breaking the law. Any inspectors who are conducting business as this time are doing just that, and it would be reasonable for consumers and real estate professionals alike to ask the following: if these inspectors are willing to break the law now and cut corners, are they doing that during an inspection? If one can’t be trusted in small ways, can they be trusted in a property?
